World Cup 2026 Dallas: Best Areas to Stay for Every Type of Fan

Fanway Team·2026-05-15·5 min read

Dallas-Fort Worth is the largest metropolitan area in the tournament without a major public transit spine. This is Texas — the default assumption is that everyone has a car. For visiting fans arriving without one, accommodation choice matters more here than in almost any other host city because where you stay determines what you can access without a rideshare.

The critical fact upfront: AT&T Stadium is in Arlington — not Dallas, not Fort Worth. It sits roughly between the two cities, about 20 miles from each city centre. There is no direct rail service from Dallas proper to the stadium. Every fan attending a match is dealing with a car or rideshare journey regardless of where they stay.

For stadium logistics and fan bar recommendations, see our Dallas World Cup 2026 fan guide.

Best Areas for Solo Fans

Uptown Dallas: The most walkable neighbourhood in the city and the best base for solo fans who want social infrastructure. McKinney Avenue has a dense strip of bars and restaurants accessible on foot, and the McKinney Avenue Trolley connects Uptown to Downtown. The Old Monk on Henderson Avenue — Dallas's best football pub — is a short walk or rideshare from here.

Deep Ellum: The arts and music district east of Downtown. More affordable than Uptown, more character, and a nightlife scene built around independent venues rather than chains. Less walkable connectivity than Uptown but the neighbourhood itself rewards on-foot exploration. Good for solo fans who want an authentic local experience over a polished bar strip.

Lower Greenville: A bar and restaurant corridor between Uptown and East Dallas. Less well-known to visitors but popular with locals — good beer bars, independent restaurants, and a neighbourhood feel that Uptown occasionally lacks. Budget-friendly accommodation options are stronger here.

Best Areas for Couples

Bishop Arts District (Oak Cliff): The most characterful neighbourhood in Dallas for couples. Independent shops, excellent restaurants (Lucia is here), walkable scale, and an atmosphere that feels genuinely local rather than tourist-facing. Accommodation options are limited compared to Uptown, but Airbnb inventory is strong. The trade-off is a slightly longer rideshare to the stadium and to other parts of the city.

Uptown Dallas: Also works well for couples — the restaurant quality on and around McKinney Avenue is excellent, and the neighbourhood is safe and walkable in the evenings. More polished than Bishop Arts but consistently good.

Fort Worth — Near Southside: For couples who want a slower pace and don't mind being in Fort Worth rather than Dallas. The Near Southside has excellent independent restaurants, the Magnolia Avenue corridor is charming, and it's closer to the Fort Worth Stockyards experience than anything on the Dallas side.

Best Areas for Families

Uptown / Oak Lawn: The most family-practical base in Dallas proper. Proximity to the Katy Trail (a 3.5-mile urban trail popular with families), good family restaurants, and the safest, most walkable environment in the city.

Plano / Frisco (North Dallas suburbs): If you're renting a car and prioritising space and value, the northern suburbs offer larger accommodation, lower prices, and family-friendly infrastructure. The Legacy West development in Plano has good family restaurants and a suburban ease that works well with young children. The trade-off is that you're further from Dallas's cultural attractions.

Fort Worth — Cultural District: The Fort Worth Cultural District has the Kimbell Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum, and the Fort Worth Zoo in close proximity. For families who want a structured activity base, this area delivers more per square mile than comparable areas in Dallas.

What to Avoid

Arlington (immediately around the stadium): The entertainment district near AT&T Stadium is active on match days but sparse otherwise. You'll be near the venue but without easy access to the restaurants, bars, and neighbourhoods that make DFW worth visiting. Only consider this if attending multiple matches and minimising transit is the single priority.

Anywhere without a transport plan: Dallas has DART rail for some areas, but it doesn't reach Arlington or many tourist-facing neighbourhoods. If you're not renting a car, budget for significant rideshare costs (typically $25–45 each way to the stadium) and factor that into your accommodation choice.

Downtown Dallas hotels on a tight budget: Downtown has good hotels but the immediate surrounding area lacks the walkable dining density that visitors expect. You pay Downtown prices for a neighbourhood that requires a rideshare to reach anything interesting.

Rental vs Hotel

Hotels make more sense for:

  • Short stays of 1–3 nights
  • Solo fans and pairs
  • Anyone who wants hotel amenities without managing check-in logistics

Rentals (Airbnb/VRBO) make more sense for:

  • Families needing space and a car-friendly base with parking
  • Groups of 3+ splitting costs
  • Stays of 5+ nights in Bishop Arts or Deep Ellum where rental inventory is strong
  • Anyone renting a car — many Dallas rentals include private parking, eliminating hotel parking fees ($30–50/night)

Price Expectations

AreaTypical nightly rate (tournament weeks)
Uptown Dallas$200–$380
Deep Ellum$160–$300
Bishop Arts District$170–$320
Lower Greenville$150–$280
Fort Worth (Near Southside)$140–$260
Arlington (near stadium)$130–$250
North Dallas suburbs$120–$220

Dallas is more affordable than the coastal host cities. Tournament demand will push rates up but not to New York or Miami levels. Book early regardless — quality inventory at reasonable prices will go first.
